Problem
For people who take vitamins or a small set of oral medications on a schedule, the hard part is rarely setting an alarm. After the alert disappears, it is still easy to forget whether this dose was logged. Memory leads to missed doses; uncertainty can lead to taking the same dose twice. System health apps can hold a plan, but checking the current dose often takes too many steps.
Take Pills starts from a smaller question: after unlocking the phone, can you see what to do in a few seconds, and leave a reliable, undoable record with one tap?

Role
Creator / Maintainer. An independent product spanning problem definition, interaction baseline, native iOS implementation, local storage, widgets, in-app purchase, and the App Store release.
System
- Native iOS 17+: SwiftUI, WidgetKit, App Intents, and StoreKit 2, with no accounts, no first-party backend, and no third-party analytics SDK.
- Today tray: dose events are grouped by time; each pill can be logged or skipped. Animation and sound play only after a successful write, and a short undo window remains.
- Schedules: repeat on selected weekdays or every 2–6 days; rest days produce no pending doses or reminders.
- Local reminders: a notification at the scheduled time, plus one follow-up after 30 minutes if the dose is still open. Dismissing the reminder does not log a dose.
- Home Screen widgets: small and medium widgets focus on overdue, due, next, or completed-for-today, and can log a single pill with a pop sound.
- History and correction: year, month, and day views; backfills record the time the user supplies, and corrections keep an audit trail.
- Privacy defaults: plans and logs stay on-device, including the App Group container; notifications and widgets hide medication names unless the user turns that on.
- Purchase boundary: the free tier fully manages one currently active medication; a one-time lifetime unlock removes the count limit. Reminders, logging, history, and widgets stay available without purchase.

Impact
Take Pills is available on the App Store. The product turns a reminder into a verifiable loop: completion is defined by a local write, and the today view, widget, and history read the same record. The app covers ten languages, and plans and logs stay on the device.
Scope
Take Pills is a personal reminder and logging tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis, dosing, or treatment advice. Whether and how to take a medication remains a matter for prescriptions, labels, and a licensed clinician.
Why It Matters
Independent products still have to decide what “done” means, how failure is shown, and what stays private. Take Pills makes those constraints visible: the tray changes only after a successful write, failures never look like success, and sensitive names stay off the lock screen by default. It is a practice in product restraint and trustworthy records.
